The city of Santa Cruz will likely be introducing an ordinance to prohibit the sale of flavored tobacco and vapor products on November 13. While this has not been confirmed on the city's agenda yet there is a strong possibility this item will be on there.
San Pablo on November 5th, Marin County on November 6th, and not Alameda City on November 7th. Three days in a row, three flavor bans in a row. The city of Alameda is introducing its ordinance to prohibit the sale of flavored tobacco (including vapor) products at their 7PM meeting on November 7th. It's item 6-B on the agenda so you might want to plan for a long evening. The city allocated an hour for this item and it's near the end of the list.
The Marin County Supervisors will be reading the flavor ban ordinance by title only in the upcoming meeting on October 30th with the intention of having a merit hearing on the ordinance scheduled for November 6th, at 10:30AM. It is of the utmost importance that retailers and consumers are present at this meeting to express their concerns about this ordinance. Actions and votes are likely to be taken at this meeting and things may move very rapidly from that point forward.
The City of San Pablo is going to continue the process of discussing the flavor ban ordinance at their November 5th meeting at 6PM. For those who want to catch up on the latest intel and information, need additional insights into talking points, etc. please get to the front of the building between 2pm and 2:15pm.
Marin County, another municipality on the long list recently published by Not Blowing Smoke, has decided to move forward with the introduction of a flavor ban. Introduction of this ordinance is scheduled for September 11th at 9:30am in San Rafael.
The city clerk in Sacramento confirmed that the flavor ban item will NOT be on the agenda for Aug 28th. We are calling off the rally but please watch this space for updates. No new date has been provided. The language of the ordinance is not ready yet.
As you can see from the video, Amber decided to mention our opposition and call us "a page out of the Philip Morris playbook". Which does not surprise us considering that ideological anti-tobacco crusaders will always try and smear any opposition as being the work of "evil big tobacco companies".
DO NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO IF YOU ARE A VAPER! But if you think you can stomach this and if you love paying attention to detail then certainly this will be 10 minutes of your life you'll never get back. Ever. Again. The future of flavor bans is pretty much explained in it.
Thank you, Councilmember Kinney, for your position and common sense approach to preserving the freedom of choice for adults. This is a very sharp contrast to the mayhem, ignorance, and desire to legislate behavior and morality in Beverly Hills!
